Exhibitions – 2012

At the end of June 2012, the church held an exhibition that featured Christian men and women that had a significant impact on society. The exhibition included people like John Newton, William Wilberforce, Gladys Aylward and Lord Shaftesbury. It was titled ‘Faith That Works

The aim of the exhibition was to show that it was their faith in Christ Jesus that made a difference to the way these Christians lived their lives, serving other people.

Over 300 people from Accrington and surrounding towns visited the exhibition, including over 200 school children. Schools had been contacted earlier in the year and 3 schools took up the offer of a visit, which included a short illustrated talk, a look around the exhibition, worksheets and a craft. Feedback from the schools was very positive, and many teachers indicated that they would bring pupils to future exhibitions.

To end the week, we opened to the public on the Saturday when we provided tea/coffee and cake and lots of opportunity to engage in conversation, as we endeavoured to share the gospel. Children were kept busy with craft and face painting, which proved very popular.

We were aware of God’s help in preparation for the exhibition and also his blessing throughout the week. One man who came into the exhibition has recently come to faith in Christ Jesus.

You are very welcome to download and print any of the exhibition material or maybe your church may like to borrow the exhibition for using at an event. Please contact Philip@peelstreet.org.uk for further details.
